We don’t care what gas costs!
DENVER TO GUNNISON, CO
We got our first real look at the Rocky Mountains today. It was so cool how many times everyone in the car said “WOW”! Three times we had to go west across the mountains, up the switchbacks and then down again. We crossed the Monarch Pass, elev. 11,000 plus feet. There was snow on the ground by the side of the interstate.
We saw real cattle ranches. Ooo, look - real cows. I kept waiting to see the Marlboro Man ride by. You can just feel that part of history in the landscape.
Further south, the mountains are greener, but no less striking.

Check out those mountains!
We stopped to eat at a little place outside Buena Vista, Co.
When we ordered burgers, we were told, “We only make medium-well or well done.”
No such thing as rare meat at the Gusmoke Restaurant.
