Another 6:30 AM hike, this time just Tom and Merry. Although Bright Angel is listed as the easiest trail into the canyon, we found the Kaibab Trail to be far less strenuous. We did only go 1.5 miles down to the Cedar Ridge rest stop (where there is no water). But the trail itself was smoother and not as tough on the feet and knees. It’s still tough going back up the 1,140 foot ascent.

Finally, we had on last sunset over the canyon. We watched from the Yavapai Point observation platform.
Later in the afternoon, Merry and the kids took a walk along the Rim Trail.
